Blue Chromis

Blue Chromis (Chromis cyanea) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its brilliant electric-blue coloration, schooling behavior, and active swimming. Males typically display slightly larger size, deeper bodies, and may show more intense coloration during spawning, while females/juveniles tend to be smaller, with less vivid hues.

They reach about 5 inches (12–13 cm) as adults and should be housed in aquariums of at least 55 gallons (larger if keeping groups). Provide ample open swimming space, live rock for shelter, and stable reef-like aquascaping, along with a secure lid since these fish are known to jump.

Water parameters should remain stable: salinity 1.020–1.025, temperature 72–79°F, pH 8.1–8.4.

Their diet should consist of a mix of meaty foods (mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods), high-quality marine pellets, and occasional algae-based foods to round out nutrition.With proper care, this fish makes a hardy, active, and visually stunning addition to reef and community aquariums.
