Blue Angelfish, Juvenile

The Blue Angelfish, Juvenile (Holacanthus isabelita) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its brilliant electric blue juvenile coloration with yellow accents, bold patterns, and striking transition into adult form.

Males typically grow larger, more robust, and display more intense adult coloration, while females/juveniles exhibit vibrant blue bodies with yellow caudal fins and a distinctive bar pattern that fades as they mature.

They reach about 15 inches in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 180 gallons. Provide ample live rock with hiding spots and grazing areas, along with open swimming space, stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid since many angelfish are prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, high-quality pellets, marine algae, and sponge-based foods, ensuring a varied mix for proper health and coloration. With proper care, this fish makes a stunning centerpiece in a large marine aquarium.
