Blue Angelfish, Adult

The Blue Angelfish, Adult (Holacanthus isabelita) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its brilliant blue coloration, bold yellow accents, striking patterns, and large size that makes it a centerpiece fish.

Males typically display vivid, brighter coloration with stronger blue and yellow contrasts, while females/juveniles show more muted tones with less pronounced markings, gradually developing their adult hues as they mature.

They reach about 15 inches in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 180 gallons. Provide ample live rock for grazing and hiding, open swimming space, and stable aquascaping for territory. Maintain stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and ensure a secure lid since angelfish are prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of a varied mix of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, marine pellets, sponge-based preparations, algae, and occasional leafy greens. With proper care, this fish makes a stunning and hardy addition to large marine aquariums.
