Blonde Naso Tang

Blonde Naso Tang (Naso elegans) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe as it poses no threat to corals or most invertebrates, focusing primarily on algae grazing and zooplankton feeding. This elegant species displays a pale yellow to golden blonde body with subtle darker markings and streamlined fins, plus the characteristic forward-projecting horn (rostrum) that develops with maturity and distinguishes it from other naso tangs. The refined coloration and graceful swimming style make it one of the most sophisticated-looking tangs available. It can reach about 18 inches in adult size. Best kept in tanks of at least 180 gallons or more due to their substantial size and active swimming nature, with plenty of open water column space, strong water flow, excellent water quality, and consideration for their peaceful temperament that makes them excellent community fish with other large, non-aggressive species. Its diet should include a mix of marine algae—nori sheets, spirulina, dried seaweed—as well as high-quality herbivore pellets, mysis shrimp, and zooplankton, as this species benefits from both plant and animal proteins and requires varied nutrition including regular feeding of meaty foods to supplement their natural plankton consumption.
