Black Spot Damselfish

Black Spot Damselfish (Pomacentrus stigma) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its striking silver-pink body with a prominent dark spot near the anal fin, bold coloration, and hardy nature.

Males typically display brighter coloration and slightly larger size, with a more prominent black spot, while females/juveniles have a paler pink hue and a smaller, less distinct spot.

They reach about 3 inches (7.5 cm) in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 50 gallons.

Provide a sandbed, plenty of live rock, hiding spots, and open swimming space, stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid since many damselfish species are prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, high-quality marine pellets, and algae-based foods.
