Black Nox Angelfish

The Black Nox Angelfish (Centropyge nox) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its striking solid midnight-black coloration, compact size, and hardy nature.

Males typically exhibit slightly larger size with subtle differences in fin extension, while females and juveniles remain smaller and less distinguishable, all sharing the same deep black body. They reach about 5 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 55 gallons.

Provide ample live rock with caves and hiding spots, a sandbed, and moderate open swimming space. Keep stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and ensure a secure lid since they may jump.

Diet should consist of a varied mix of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, spirulina, marine algae, angelfish-specific pellets, and high-quality frozen foods. With proper care, this fish makes a beautiful and unique addition to the aquarium, especially admired for its bold, jet-black appearance.
