Bicolor Dottyback

The Bicolor Dottyback (Pictichromis paccagnellae) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its striking two-tone coloration with vibrant purple front half and bright yellow rear half, compact size, and bold personality. Males typically display more intense coloration and may be territorial, while females and juveniles have slightly duller hues and a more reserved nature.

They reach about 3 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons. Provide live rock with plenty of hiding spots and crevices, along with open swimming space. Maintain stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020-1.025, temp ~72-79°F, pH ~8.1-8.4) and a secure lid, as dottybacks are known to jump.

Diet should consist of a varied diet including mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and high-quality pellets. With proper care, this fish makes a standout addition to the aquarium thanks to its vibrant colors and engaging behavior.
