Bennett's Sharpnose Pufferfish

The Bennett's Sharpnose Pufferfish (Canthigaster bennetti). It is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its bright yellow body with blue spots and lines, sharp nose profile, and unique pufferfish behaviors.

Males typically display more vivid coloration with stronger contrast in their markings, while females/juveniles tend to be duller in color and slightly smaller in size. They reach about 4–5 inches as adults and should be housed in aquariums of at least 50 gallons.

Provide ample live rock for grazing and hiding spots, along with open swimming space. Maintain stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and ensure a secure lid since puffers are curious and may attempt to jump.

Diet should consist of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, marine pellets, and some algae-based foods to help wear down their beak-like teeth. With proper care, this fish makes a colorful and fascinating addition to a marine aquarium.
