Beau Gregory Damselfish ([Stegastes leucostictus]) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its vivid blue-and-yellow coloration, hardy nature, small size, and territorial behavior. Males typically become more territorial, especially during breeding, defending a nest site aggressively, while females/juveniles tend to display slightly less intense coloration and are somewhat less aggressive. They reach about 3–4 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons.
Provide ample live rock with caves and hiding spots along with some open swimming space, stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid since many species are prone to jumping.
Diet should consist of a mix of meaty foods (mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods), high-quality marine pellets, and some algae-based foods. With proper care, this fish makes a hardy and vibrant addition to a marine aquarium, though its territorial nature means tank mates should be chosen carefully.
