Bartel's Dragonet

Bartel’s Dragonet (Synchiropus bartelsi) is a peaceful, reef-safe dragonet prized for its delicate appearance and low-light elegance. Its slender body bears a mix of earthy hues accented with fine spots and accent colors, giving it an understated yet beautiful presence. This species typically reaches about 2.5–3 inches in length. Best kept in aquariums of at least 30 gallons, ideally within a mature reef system full of rockwork and live sand where it can graze pods and microfauna comfortably. It is shy at first and does best with calm tankmates that won’t outcompete it for food. Diet should include copepods, mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, and finely chopped frozen preparations; training toward prepared diets can yield success over time.
