Asfur Angelfish, Juvenile

The Asfur Angelfish, Juvenile (Pomacanthus asfur) is a semi-aggressive species that is considered reef-safe with caution, admired for its vivid deep blue body, bright yellow crescent patch, and striking juvenile striping that transitions into bold adult coloration.

Males typically show similar coloration to females but may display slightly larger size and stronger dominance behaviors, while females and juveniles exhibit brighter striping and contrasting patterns that soften as they mature.

They reach about 15 inches in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 220 gallons. Provide plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding, open swimming space, and stable aquascaping. Maintain stable water parameters: salinity 1.020–1.025, temperature 72–79°F, pH 8.1–8.4, and ensure a secure lid since angelfish can jump.

Their diet should consist of a varied mix of marine-based foods, including mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, sponges, spirulina, algae sheets, enriched pellets, and high-quality angelfish preparations.

With proper care, the juvenile Asfur Angelfish matures into a stunning showpiece fish that brings both color and personality to large marine aquariums.
