Asfur Angelfish

The Asfur Angelfish (Pomacanthus asfur) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its striking deep-blue body with a vibrant yellow crescent marking, bold coloration, large size, and regal presence.

Males typically grow large with more pronounced coloration and fin extensions, while females and juveniles display a slightly duller version of the adult coloration, with juveniles often showing more rounded body shapes and developing the full crescent pattern as they mature.

They reach about 16 inches in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 220 gallons. Provide ample live rock for grazing and hiding, open swimming space, and caves/crevices for shelter, along with a sandy substrate. Maintain stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4) and a secure lid since these fish can be prone to jumping.

Their diet should consist of a varied mix of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, high-quality marine angelfish pellets, spirulina, marine algae, and sponge-based foods. With proper care, this fish becomes a stunning centerpiece in large saltwater aquariums, adding elegance and color to the display.
