The Arc Eye Hawkfish (Paracirrhites arcatus) is a popular, hardy, and captivating fish known for its perching behavior and striking eye marking. It requires a minimum aquarium size of at least 30 to 40 gallons, with ample live rock and stable structures for it to perch upon. As a carnivore, its diet should be rich in meaty foods, including varied high-quality frozen or live offerings such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and chopped marine flesh. It is generally considered reef-safe with caution; while it will not bother corals, it is a known predator of small invertebrates, including ornamental shrimp, hermit crabs, and very small fish, so tank mates must be selected carefully. Due to its territorial nature, it should typically be the last fish added to a community tank, and it is best kept singly unless a known mated pair can be acquired.
