Amikami Flap-Headed Goby

Amikami Flap-Headed Goby (Callogobius cf. amikami/mannarensis) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its unique flattened head shape, cryptic coloration, small size, and secretive behavior. Males typically display slightly more vivid markings and may show subtle territorial behavior during breeding, while females/juveniles remain smaller and often less bold in coloration. They reach about 2 to 2.5 inches and should be housed in aquariums of at least 10 gallons.

Provide fine sandbed, plenty of live rock with small caves and crevices, and minimal strong flow, stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid since many species are prone to jumping. Diet should consist of small meaty foods like enriched brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, copepods, and finely crushed marine pellets, and with proper care this fish makes a standout addition to the aquarium.
