Ambon's Damselfish

Ambon's Damselfish ([Pomacentrus amboinensis]) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its striking iridescent blue coloration, vibrant patterns, small size, and active personality. Males typically display brighter, shimmering blue tones with a slightly more elongated body and assertive territorial behavior, while females/juveniles are slightly duller in color with a more subdued pattern and less aggressive behavior. They reach about 3 inches (7.5 cm) and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons.

Provide a sandbed, plenty of live rock for territory and hiding spots, and open swimming space. Maintain stable water parameters: salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F (22–26°C), pH ~8.1–8.4, and a secure lid since many damselfish species are prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, high-quality marine pellets, and algae. With proper care, this fish makes a standout addition to the aquarium due to its vibrant coloration and lively personality.
