The African Longfin Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus africanus) is a vibrant and rare reef-safe fairy wrasse that brings color and movement to any aquarium. With a semi-aggressive temperament, it shines in community reef tanks when given plenty of swim space, live rock to shelter among, and stable water parameters. Males show more vivid coloration, especially in the dorsal and tail fins, while females are more subdued. This species matures at about 2.5 inches. Best kept in tanks of 50 gallons or more, with a tight lid to prevent jumping. Its diet should be omnivorous: zooplankton, frozen mysis/brine shrimp, live foods, and premium pellets or flakes. Because it is beginner-friendly among fairy wrasses, it makes a great centerpiece for smaller reef-friendly systems.
