2 Stripe Damselfish

The 2 Stripe Damselfish (Dascyllus reticulatus) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its striking black-and-white stripes, compact size, bold personality, and active swimming behavior. Males typically display more vibrant coloration and pronounced striping, are slightly larger, and exhibit territorial behavior. Females and juveniles tend to be smaller, with subtler stripes and a more peaceful demeanor.

They reach about 3 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons. Their ideal habitat should provide a sandbed, plenty of live rock with hiding spots and caves, and open swimming space to allow natural behavior. Stable water parameters are essential, with salinity around 1.020–1.025, temperature between 72–79°F, and pH of 8.1–8.4. A secure lid is important since they are prone to jumping.

Their diet should consist of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, high-quality marine pellets, flakes, and algae. With proper care, this fish makes a striking and lively addition to reef and marine aquariums.
